St. Columba, Oakland Prays for Homicides in Oakland

St. Columba, Oakland has set up crosses to symbolize the number of homicides in the city of Oakland during the 2015 calendar year. As of December 13, 2015, there have been 89 crosses set up.

The crosses are meant to act as a reminder to pray for the senseless loss of life due to violence. In doing so, St. Columba has been engaging in one of the Spiritual Works of Mercy before the Jubilee of Mercy began: praying for the dead.
