Get involved

There are many ways that you can make the Year of Mercy come alive in your neighborhood, your parish, and in your Diocese. The Year of Mercy is meant to inspire us to go outside of ourselves and actively move God’s Mercy into the world. Mercy does not sit still, it moves. Get involved and be a part of the multiple ways you can learn more, pray more, and do more.

The Jubilee of Mercy Enrichment Series

Be enriched by the vision of Pope Francis for the Jubilee Year of Mercy through an inspiring series of presentations (available in English and Spanish) in your local area. Encounter Christ and embark on a journey of spiritual renewal, transformation and compassionate outreach. Bring a friend and reap the graces!

After the Choice

afterachoice“I h ave decided, notwithstanding anything to the contrary, to concede to all priests for the Jubilee Year the discretion to absolve of the sin of abortion those who have procured it and who, with contrite heart, seek forgiveness for it.” Pope Francis.

How often do we hear: “I have committed an unforgivable sin” when people talk about a past abortion? After the Choice Ministry provides a safe place where women and men can encounter God’s healing grace through counseling, retreats and support groups in English and Spanish.

Be the Church in the Streets

Catholic Charities of the East Bay and the Office of Life and Justice have been asked by Bishop Barber to team up to build awareness in our parishes about the problem of Human/Sex Trafficking in the East Bay.  They are also working to provide you opportunities to help sponsor refugee families and to call for violence to cease in our streets.

Parishes at Work

Parishes throughout the Diocese of Oakland have numerous programs that bring the Works of Mercy to life.

Organizations at Work

Organizations all over the East Bay have opportunities to perform Works of Mercy to serve varied audiences in varied ways.
